Author Guidelines

General information

URBE. Arquitectura, Ciudad y Territorio receives articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese that fit the journal’s stated topics of interest. Contributions sent to URBE must be original works, resulting from research processes, scientific communication (original research articles, review articles) and that have not been previously published. They should consider a maximum length of 4,000 to 5,000 words, including footnotes and references, which must follow APA standards

URBE also publishes reflections, book and / or journal reviews that are focused on architectural and urban topics. In these cases, a maximum length of 2,000 to 3,000 words is considered, which must follow the same detailed formatting instructions for articles. The manuscript will be evaluated by the URBE editorial team, then continue with the notification and subsequent procedures, detailed below.

All files must meet the following requirements:

1. The complete manuscript must be presented in Word.
1.1. The name of the author(s) must not appear in the text, since the proposals will be sent to doble-blind peer review with external reviewers who will evaluate without knowledge of the identity of the author(s).
1.2. References must be in APA 7 style.

2. Separate file with author information:
2.1. Correspondence author details: email address, professional address, institutional telephone number.
2.2. All authors: institution, highest academic degree, email address and ORCID
2.3. Contribution of each author to the manuscript.

2.8. Approval of ethics committee, if applicable.
2.9. Title of the article.

4. Figures (graphs or images) and tables in separate Word document (excel).
4.1. High resolution photographs as separate files.

About structure and content of articles

For the styles and general rules of publication, please check the URBE_template_authors file, which contains the article format, structure and pre-styles assigned in Word (Styles features of Word). For more information refer to said document.

Peer-review process

Once the articles are received, they will be subjected to a preliminary evaluation by the Editorial Committee, who will determine the thematic relevance and compliance with the basic requirements of the articles, as well as their relevance with respect to editorial policies and ethical standards. If the contributions do not meet these requirements, they will be returned to their author(s).

Those articles that meet the thematic and formal requirements will be subjected to a double-blind review by expert peers. The editor in charge of the article will send the anonymous manuscript to two specialist researchers. Taking into account the Journal's Article Review Form, the referees will determine if the article is:

  • Accepted without corrections
  • Accepted with minor corrections
  • Accepted with major corrections
  • Rejected, not publishable

In case of discrepancy between those responsible for the review, the article will be submitted to a subsequent instance of review by a third arbitrator. The final opinion of the Editorial Committee, informed by the observations issued by the two or three reviewers, will be final.

If the article is publishable with observations, the author must send the corrected version for a new evaluation within the period established in the evaluation report. The corrected article will be reviewed to confirm the incorporation of the observations and thus be able to proceed to its publication.

If you require more details about the review process, refer to the Ethical considerations section.

Notification to the authors

The main author will be notified of the receipt of the work and subsequently the result of the peer evaluation via email.

Ethical standards

By submitting their work, authors declare that it has never been published, and that it is not currently under review with any other journal.

The authors must declare the originality of the work. It must not reproduce any part of another work by a different author without citing correctly with the corresponding bibliographic reference.

Writings selected for evaluation will be subjected to the Compilatio plagiarism detector. Entries that do not meet standards of originality will be rejected.

Declaration of conflicts of interest

Authors, reviewers and editors must declare - by email to the journal's email address - any possible conflict of interest that could cast doubt on public trust in the review, selection and publication processes of Urbe's works. A conflict of interest is understood to be the situation where a relationship (family, academic, financial or other rivalry) threatens the transparency and impartiality of trials and procedures.

Publishing rights

The authors grant URBE rights to publish and disseminate the works selected and reviewed for the journal, both in their paper versions, electronic or any other medium, as well as their inclusion in catalogs, libraries, servers or virtual sites.
