Comparative studies represent a long tradition in the political field, which could be traced back first to Greek philosophers up to the present day, with studies on public policy. In Argentina, the early positivization of political science in the academies promoted the creation of research institutes and teams specifically devoted to comparative work. In accordance with this genealogical journey, the article presents the main discussions on the method and the field of comparative studies in the social sciences and in the approach to state actions in Latin America. To this end, a bibliographical review of the main references is proposed as a methodology and theoretical discussions are advanced for the study of state positioning in a specific field such as the digital ecosystem. The general proposal aims to present theoretical and methodological dimensions for the comparative study of the relationship between the positioning of Latin American states and digital platforms.
