This paper analyzes the evolution and current situation of the legal-institutional framework related to Mexican federal government debt, identifying and prioritizing the main factors that influenced the implementation of public debt in the last three six-year periods. The work is carried out through a non-experimental qualitative methodology for the case study, based on two tools: the normative documentary review and its analysis. The main findings point out that the institutional framework of public debt as manifested in the policy of the last three six-year periods of the federal government of Mexico, works and has provided stability to it, keeping the main macroeconomic variables of the country in order.
