Leadership styles and job satisfaction among workers of primary health care establishments in the commune of Chillan, Chile

Health organizations have faced in recent years the task of modernization. That is reflected in the health care model has changed, overriding a biopsychosocial approach. For this model to be successful health requires, among other things, a leadership style that offers security, job satisfaction and recognition. The objective was to determine the leadership styles of directors of health centers and perceived job satisfaction by officials of the same, also analyzing the relationship between the two, using a descriptive correlational cross-sectional design in a sample of 179 officials hires who work in the centers of primary health care Chillán. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires situational leadership and job satisfaction. Among the results it should be noted that the style of managerial leadership was predominant (38%) compared to job satisfaction generally dominated the average level (52%), and overall, the results suggest that found a positive relationship between management, participatory and persuasive job satisfaction, especially in the dimensions satisfaction with pay, with the supervision and with the physical environment styles.
