Digital Preservation Policy

DIGITAL PRESERVATION POLICY
RAN – REVISTA ACADEMIA & NEGOCIOS

RAN assigns an Institutional DOI (Digital Object Identifier), a persistent identifier managed by Crossref, which ensures proper identification and prevents issues related to broken links or changes in URLs.

PKP Preservation Network (PN)
The PKP Preservation Network provides free preservation services for any OJS (Open Journal Systems) journal that meets basic criteria. In this regard, for the purpose of digital preservation, RAN articles are archived in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), thus ensuring a permanent and secure archive for the journal. LOCKSS
Open Journal Systems, which hosts RAN, is compatible with the LOCKSS system. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Library, designed to ensure a permanent and secure archive for journals. It allows libraries to preserve selected web-based journals by regularly checking registered journals to collect newly published content and archive it. Each archive is continuously validated against records from other libraries, so any damaged or lost content can be restored using those records or directly from the journal itself.

Archived issues can be accessed through the LOCKSS Editorial Manifest:
In this way, articles are progressively archived, ensuring that the stored digital information remains accessible and usable in the future.
