Abstract

Curricular processes are important resources to face the academic management challenges in Higher Education today. In this study a model of Governance, Leadership and Management of curricular processes is developed and the suitability of the proposed categories and processes is contrasted, as an organizing and directing framework for the management of higher education institutions. With a case study strategy, 20 curricular change initiatives were evaluated, in the context of a program sponsored by the Colombian Association of Universities, and analyzed in-dependently by two expert judges. The results suggest that the proposed model is comprehensive and included grouping categories for all the possible change initiatives. In addition, it was found that higher education institutions presented more initiatives in the articulation of curricular processes, and then they were followed by the design initiatives. The model is a conceptual and analytical resource available for academic authorities and curricular managers to innovate and efficiently manage the complex dynamics of curricular processes in Higher Education.
