Abstract

Between 1989 and 2023, the Supreme Court of Justice of Argentina has received a significant number of impeachments requests against it. Such recurrence generates various possible scenarios regarding the motivations of those who accuse the judges and why it is one of the branches of government most historically affected by this kind of threat. This study attempts to determine the motivations that congresspeople have about the use of this very exceptional mechanism, providing an analysis of different causes that could affect the permanence of a Judge in office and that if effective could result in an early removal.
