Purpose: This research aims to analyze whether harmonious and obsessive passion is related to the engagement of employees working in the maquiladora export industry.
Methodology: The research is quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational. A non-probabilistic convenience sample of 102 participants belonging to the automotive industry on the northern border of Chihuahua was considered.
Results: The results suggest a positive but weak correlation between harmonious passion and engagement; obsessive passion and engagement are also correlated, but negatively and weakly.
Implications: The results allow human resources managers to implement strategies to improve labor relations, increase permanence, and increase labor productivity.
Originality: The relevance lies in the analysis of the relationship between the constructs in the automotive industry; no studies conducted on the northern border of Mexico were found in the literature.
