Abstract

Purpose: to examine company and work-related factors that impact employee’s adjustment to telework imposed by COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on work performance.

Methodology:  PLS technique with a sample of 374 employees measured the impact of work performance during COVID-19 pandemic. 

Findings: Results suggest that firm-related factors such as management support and training culture have a positive influence on job-related aspects such as management affirmation, personal competence, communication tasks and work autonomy.

Implications: To provide businesses with information on the factors that enable them to support employees through effective communication of tasks and expectations regarding their job performance.

Originality: An innovative model is introduced to illustrate the applicability of the Labor Adjustment Theory highlighting the company and work-related factors that facilitate the adaptability of employees to achieve better work performance in disruptive environments.
