About the Journal

The Journal of Government and Public Administration (GYAP) is a biannual scientific publication, peer-reviewed, edited since 2021 and funded by the Department of Public Administration and Political Science of the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences at the University of Concepción (Chile).

GYAP accepts unpublished manuscripts (originals) in the fields of public administration and political science, with a special interest in phenomena, debates, and evidence related to politics, public policy, government, and public administration. The Editorial Committee focuses on articles that help improve public administrations, especially those that share management experiences from different levels and areas of the government, as well as studies that look into various aspects of government like institutional capacity, integrity, transparency, accountability, digital transformation, coordination, public innovation, and regulatory quality, among others. In line with this, the journal considers works on local administration, public affairs, public leadership, and information management for decision-making in the public sector.

The journal publishes texts in Spanish and English, including scientific articles, academic essays, public experiences, book reviews, and bibliographic comments. Its purpose is to contribute to educational and professional discussion and reflection, from a multidisciplinary approach, on political, legal, and administrative issues in territorial, cultural, social, and economic contexts in Ibero-America and the world. The journal targets not only the national and international academic community but also students, teachers, researchers, and public-sector professionals.

GYAP supports the principles of Open Science and encourages good practices in the management and access to data, materials, and codes related to articles. It promotes the FAIR principles—findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable—through explicit metadata, permanent identifiers, and well-defined access conditions.

It is aimed at the national and international academic community, students, teachers, researchers, and public sector professionals.
