We propose reading some representative works of four poets who wrote in exile: Alicia Galaz, Osvaldo Rodríguez, Luis Mizón and Eduardo Embry. Natives from Valparaíso, whose writing evokes different spaces, either from the place of origin or the place of reception. Our hypothesis is that through these works a definition of «geopoetics of distance» can be constructed, characterized by having the elements proper of what is meant by the representation of topos, transfigured to logos in the space represented in the literature (Aínsa, 2006). In addition, since the distance because it has its reason for being in the displacement, that is, in the non-coincidence between the place evoked with the place from where it has enunciated. From this proposal, two categories emerge: place and non-place, which operate for each of the types of displacement; emotional and territorial, respectively. In short, we propose to define the concept of geopoetics of distance, through texts in which different poets abandon, imagine from a distance and artistically transfigure a place: Valparaíso.
