Abstract

Joselo Olascuaga’s novel, El código Gardel, turns around a congress about the famous tango Singer Gardel in Punta del Este, which is hit by the murder of one of the speakers. From there, the story follows the canonical features of the police novel, whith a detective investigation. But while the narration progress in the resolution of the police enigma, at the same time a bigger enigma arises: the mysteries surrounding  the figure of Gardel. However, the novel does not aim only to elucidate the place of his birth or other facets of his life, but to show the web of economic, political and media power related to the legendary singer.
