The aim of this article is to track, identify and analyze the political and ideological components of the relationship between independence and cultural production in Argentina from the origins of the Nation State around the mid 19-th century to the present, with the intention of providing a historical understanding of independent cultural production that explains the particular place that politics partakes in it. Three key historical moments in which a given perspective of independent culture strongly marked by politic was built and whose influence even reaches the meaning given to local independent culture, nowadays, were analyzed through a bibliographic and documentary research at the archives of National Library of Argentina and the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (Berlin, Germany).
