Keywords:

This article analyses the presence of various references from the Classical Tradition in the poetry of Jaime Gil de Biedma. To do so, it studies his poetic conception through the invention of a "character" identified with the figure of the hero and establishes the difference between "poetry of experience" and "confessional poetry". It also examines the influence of his peers in his literary formation and explores the importance of intertextuality in his poetry, especially in the Classical Tradition. Thus, the central part of the work is based on an in-depth study of the presence of these references in five of his best-known poems: "Pandémica y celeste", "Epigrama votivo", "Himno a la juventud", "De senectute" y "De vita beata".
