The study of the trajectory of Gabriel Salazar in the decades of the 1970s and 1980s, with the general objective of analyzing the Chilean dictatorship intellectual field is proposed. Specifically, we will inquire in their political-intellectual networks the generational and social spaces belonging, as well as the ways in which in the intellectual field was legitimated. Moreover, we investigate the transitional debate on the violence of which he was part. The sources used included the bibliography of the author, press reports, political history texts and testimonies. We conclude that his career represents an aspect of the “Renovation of the Left” criticism of the transition, which has been scarcely addressed from this perspective.
