Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the role played by some intellectuals who formed in 1978 the Group of Constitutional Studies, better known as the “Group of 24?. Its aim was, on the one hand, to exert opposition and publically dispute the political and institutional field in which the civil-military dictatorship sought to implement through constitutional project, and secondly, illustrate to the public and agitate the conscience of Chileans, on the meaning and importance of the concepts such as democracy and freedom, pluralism and human rights that the regime of Augusto Pinochet was contravening.
