Culture, play and effected history in Gadamer’s Truth and Method
Keywords:
Philosophical hermeneutics, culture, play, effected historyAbstract
This note clarifies the relations among the three central concepts in the line of reasoning of Gadamer’s Truth and Method: ‘culture’, ‘play’ and ‘effected history’. In order o achieve this goal we set out the dialectical structure that each one of these concepts has. We intend to show that Gadamer does not agree with accounts of hermeneutics that multiply the viewpoints without leaving anything stable and we also emphasize the ontological status of hermeneutics, mainly from the concept of play understood as representation.
