Abstract

This research aims to analyze Jan Patocka’s approach to existence as a sum raised in The Movement of the Human Existence, in relation with his postulates on
the body and living space developed in Body, Community, Language, World. These approaches will be analyzed in order to address the sum from the lived body. To this end, Patocka’s proposal about the priority of sum as a solution to his criticism of Husserlian phenomenology will be linked to the need for a bodily lived space, considering Merleau-Ponty’s proposal of the lived body as a reading key to understand the relationship between the sum in Patocka and the phenomenal sphere.
