Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the links between anti-Semitism and modernity in the philosophy of Theodor Adorno, thus: 1) to shed light on the ambiguous aspect of the concept of modernity, 2) to study the continuities between Nazism and liberal modernity by analyzing the concept of anti-Semitism,  and 3) to think the possibility of a critique relation with the recent past as self-reflection of the ambiguity inherent in modernity.
