Felicitas Valenzuela: A Recovered Work

Preliminary Study

Abstract

This study examines, in its first part, the biographical aspects of the life of Felicitas Valenzuela Bousquet (1934– ), who served as a professor in the  Department of Philosophy at the University of Concepción between 1969–1984  and 1991–2006. The second section analyzes her philosophical work through a collection of articles published in the journal Cuadernos de Filosofía of the same department between 1972 and 2004. The aim of this study is to systematize the main themes addressed by Valenzuela throughout her academic career as a philosophy professor and researcher. It also highlights her pioneering role as a woman in philosophical activity in Chile and her contribution to the incorporation of a gender perspective in philosophical reflection. This work is particularly relevant due to the novelty of compiling and digitizing these articles, which had not previously been available in digital format and were therefore difficult to access for consultation and dissemination. In this sense, the study presents and organizes the themes developed by Valenzuela in order to facilitate the study and dissemination of her work from a feminist perspective within the history of philosophy.
