Hannah Arendt: A Philosopher for Our Time

Abstract

The present text examines Hannah Arendt's intellectual trajectory, highlighting her transition from existential philosophy to political theory influenced by National Socialism and the Holocaust. It analyzes fundamental categories of her thought, such as the "pariah" figure, experience-based thinking, and the structure of vita activa (labor, work, and action). The work emphasizes that politics is the realm of plurality and freedom, where action and speech enable human fulfillment against the threat of totalitarian dehumanization. Finally, it highlights the proposal of "thinking without banisters" and the capacity for judgment as critical faculties for understanding contemporary reality and preserving individual dignity in times of social and political crisis
