Approaches to the Heideggerian Interpretation of Poetic Creation

Abstract

The thematization of Being is not exclusive to philosophical thought but is also present within the literary domain. This article explores the metaphysical imprint of poetry, drawing primarily on the philosophical reflections of Martin Heidegger. However, such considerations regarding poetry and its metaphysical dimension can already be traced within Presocratic thought—most notably in Parmenides—as well as in classical ancient philosophy, particularly in Aristotle. The paper outlines a set of conceptual continuities between these philosophical stages and the German thinker, focusing on the presence of metaphysics in poetry. Indeed, Heidegger takes up these intellectual concerns in his later period, within the context of his rethinking of metaphysics. Heidegger’s interest in poetry has also found resonance within the Latin American intellectual tradition, especially among certain scholars and university educators. The main contribution of this study is to articulate a historical trajectory of the metaphysical imprint in poetry. To develop this approach, both primary sources and secondary studies addressing the connections between Heidegger and other philosophical traditions have been examined in order to identify the antecedents and continuity of the Heideggerian perspective.
