This article presents two sculptural groups by Antonio Susillo. One, the original clay model, known from old photographs, is currently missing, and the existence of bronze replicas, such as the one offered here, was previously unknown. The second, a bronze cast, was unknown until now and is therefore unpublished. These two bronze sculptural groups, El fluir de la vida and Fauno y Ninfa sosteniendo un jarrón, present new relationships in the sculptor’s work, with a decisive departure from classical Greek models. This is important as a precursor to the introduction of the new classicist tendencies that began in Paris at the turn of the century. This illustrates different stages in Antonio Susillo’s production and allows us to appreciate a sculptor open to evolution in contact with the new international trends of the late 19th century.
