Abstract

This article presents the analysis of set of data collected through a long process of anthropological research on the relationship between forest companies and Mapuche communities in the Araucanía Region. This analysis focuses on how the forest industry, through the agents interviewed, conceive their relationships with Mapuche communities. Among the main results are orientations of transnational capitalism in the management of relations with the Mapuche communities, incidents in the constructions of otherness that invigorate the daily lives of the territory.
