Abstract

In this paper we examine the scope of two important terrorist attacks in Argentina (1992 and 1994), and their consequences in the bilateral relations between Argentina and Iran. We analyze the judicial investigations of both operations, considering some local (judicial obstruction) and international (Syrian and Iranian clues) hypothesis. We argue that these attacks must be considered in a context of three events that took place at the beginning of 1990’s: new military interventions of Israel in Lebanon; the peace process between Israel and palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan since the Conference of Madrid; the failure of nuclear cooperation between Buenos Aires and Teheran.
