In this paper, we aim to investigate a set of religious paintings on relief metal, produced in the Viceroyalty of Peru between the 17th and 18th centuries, currently located in various national and international collections. The goal of this work is to identify the motifs and provenance of the iconographic and ornamental repertoire represented in these paintings, as well as to understand the location spaces of these objects, their uses and specific functions that they fulfilled in American colonial society. To arrive at possible answers, we will analyze our corpus of work based on the contributions of iconograhic studies and the investigation of documentary sources, from a perspective focused on cultural history and the histo-geography of art. The development of the work will explain how the painted plates acquired multiple valuations in the Viceroyalty of Peru.
