Abstract

Both in Morocco and Ecuador, the impetus of acculturation development policies has come to delegitimize the traditional community organization of certain ethnic groups. The recent arrival of tourism would also be promoting these dynamics. The main objective of the article is to show the contradictions and tensions that accompany tourism as a development strategy. The comparative study of two ethnic groups shows important similarities, despite the geographical and cultural distance between them. The analysis is carried out from an anthropological perspective, having carried out intensive ethnographic fieldwork in both contexts.
