Particularities of surveillance and police control in the Roman world

This article examines some of the particularities and general characteristics of the system of control and security of people in the Roman world. It will delve into the key role of the army and its police mission of surveillance and maintenance of internal public order; likewise, the value of the community presence (of citizens) in the provincial localities as self-defense and self-protection will be dealt with in depth.
