Abstract

This article has been prepared as part of a FONDECYT project that studies the participation of women in the economy. Beyond their involvement in the economically active population, their assistance in the marital bussinesses and their testamentary provisions, we have wanted to verify their participation in the financial area. Thus has study credit in period of the economic history of the Concepción region in which the traditional socio-economic structure was being modified and changed more and more by the intrusion modern methods, where credit constituted the fundamental nerve of the capitalist montary system. In this articl, as it constitutes a preliminary study, we limit ourselves to the examination of 110 mutual and cancellation contracts signed in two notary publies of Concepción during the year 1880.
