The Norte Chico experienced a singular historical development due to the special geographic and economic conditions that took place du ring the first half of the XIX century. This work does not intend to study the structural formation nor the institutional behaviour of mining activity but to reflect sequentially about same background information that can contribute to a thorough understanding of miner's demands. They, as social agents, had the purpose of protecting their productive activities as they began to think themselves as an active part of the society.
