Vicente Benavides: Reacción y devoción en el seno de la post-independencia americana

Abstract

Vicente Benavides's black legend has been one of the most particular manifestations of the Chilean history. From this premise, the main characteristics of these historiography myth are analyzed, in order to determine the real nature of this point of view, as well as the importance that this view has had in the official speech of the independence war.
