The present article refers specifically to the creation and evolution experienced by the Vitiviniculture School of Cauquenes from the end of the 19th Century until 1905. It seeks to highlight this initiative as one of the most important experiences of vitiviniculture teaching in Central-Southern Chile. The article also analyzes the vicissitudes that the principals and local authorities faced to make this project work, due to its location, practically on the southern border of the epoch's French plantations, and to contribute to improving the quality of the wine produced in the region.
