Sexo, eugenesia y política: Waldemar Coutts (Chile, 1895-1959)

The objective of this paper is to analyze the figure of Waldemar Coutts in the context of Chilean public health and eugenic thought, in the 1920s and 1930s. The research was carried out based on the analysis of the texts published by Coutts in this period, important protagonist in the beginnings of state sex education, the fight against venereal diseases, the eugenic project debate and in politics: which is why he is a relevant figure of the first half of the 20th century in Chile. Through the result of this research, it is revealed and highlighted as an example of medical and political thought, in which biological and political ideas converge.
