International conflicts, modernization and changes in the circumpuneñas cattle routes. Salta, Tarija and Taltal, 1850-1930

Abstract

The article analyzes the incidence of the border conflicts and the modernization process in the circumpuneños circuits, in both slopes of the Andes, starting from the changes in the commercial flows of the last two decades of the 19th century. For this purpose, it considers the case of Salta, Tarija and southern Atacama, punctually the region of Taltal. The main objective is to study the changes in routes and the impact they had on regional society, trying to identify other factors that added to these changes in regional economic dynamics and trans Andean interregional trade routes.
