Abstract

The election of Salvador Allende as President of Chile meant again that Masonry had one of their members occupying the Presidency. In this context, and especially due to the tragic result of the government of Allende, there is a question about how the real political and ideological impact was on the Orden of Masons especially towards the 11th of September of 1973 and the struggle that the country experienced during that historical period. In order to examine this topic, we will look at the presidential election of 1970 and the coup d’Etat of 1973, as seen through sources such as the magazines Revistas Masónica y Occidente.
