Abstract

This article seeks to analyze how local authorities in Concepción developed a series of policies and procedures regarding city health, to finish the incorporation of health institutions implemented by the state during the cholera epidemics of 1886 and 1891; also demonstrating legitimation by the population and internalizing the medical discourse, which sought the public embodiment of health, by changing habits and behavior. This paper aims to approach public health in Concepción from a classic look of social control, through the results of state issued policies.
