This article proposes a theory and methodology to examine Hellenistic political resilience through epigraphic analysis. It is divided into four sections. First, it presents a theorisation and categorisation of "political resilience" within the context of the classical world. Second, it introduces a methodology focused on the analysis of honorific decrees to understand political resilience. Third, it conducts a case study on the honorific decree of Teos and Abdera, circa 165 BCE. Finally, it offers conclusions regarding the Hellenistic resilience and its relevance for contemporary studies.
