Analysis of the influence of the Alliance for Progress in Ecuador in the 1960s, using the documentation and bibliography of the period. It explains the preceding modernization initiatives, the initial assistance provided by ALPRO, the promotion of agrarian reform, the substitution industrialization and the creation of health, housing and cooperative institutions. It argues the transience of the legacy of ALPRO in a country affected by recurrent political crises resistant to change.
