Abstract

The main aim of this article is to analyze and expand what has been studied about the Chilean industrial process in the first decades of the 20th century, referring specifically to the city of Tomé. Through the municipal documents, those of the regional government and the Official Statistical Yearbooks, as well
as of the local and national press, among others; it was possible to demonstrate that the development of the textile industry managed to transform and position this commune in an industrial center of importance for the region. Besides, this enabled the birth of a take-up identity designed under the
parameters of a successful industrial process.
