Arbitration System
System for Arbitration and Article Selection
The evaluation of articles submitted through the journal’s platform during the submission periods (March/April – August/September), as well as those included in dossier proposals, will be carried out by two or more external reviewers to the publishing institution. This will be conducted under a double-blind review system, meaning that neither the reviewers nor the authors will know each other's identities or affiliations. Bibliographic reviews, interviews, and dossier introductory texts are exempt from this review process and will be evaluated directly by the Editorial Committee of the Revista de Historia.
The reviewers will assess the scientific quality of the article and its relevance to the objectives of the Revista de Historia, in order to determine its acceptance, suggest changes, or recommend rejection. The reviewer is responsible for ensuring that the contents of the article comply with the standards of excellence related to the scientific method and the appropriate review of the backgrounds that support the research.
They will consider the originality of the article and its contribution to the disciplinary discussion of History and related fields, the timeliness and relevance of the bibliography and/or sources of information, the methodological appropriateness, the use of historical evidence, and the clarity of the argument and academic writing.
In the case of disagreement among the reviewers, a third reviewer will be requested. If differences in verdicts persist, the Editorial Committee will make the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
Reviewers must hold a Master’s or Doctorate degree. Additionally, they should be recognized for their scientific publications and experience through research or studies in the fields of history, social sciences, humanities, and related areas. Furthermore, it will be ensured that they do not share the same institutional affiliation as the author of the article.
