Digital Preservation Politics

1. PKP Preservation Network (PN)

The PKP Preservation Network (PN) provides free preservation services for any Open Journal Systems (OJS) journal that meets the basic criteria. In this regard, and for the purposes of digital preservation, articles published in Derecho, Ambiente y Cambio Climático are archived in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), thereby ensuring a permanent and secure archive for the journal (https://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/).

2. LOCKSS

Open Journal Systems (OJS), which hosts Derecho, Ambiente y Cambio Climático, is compatible with LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), which ensures a permanent and secure archive for the journal. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by Stanford University Libraries that enables libraries to preserve selected online journals by regularly crawling registered journals to collect newly published content and archive it. Each archive is continuously validated against the holdings of other libraries, so any damaged or missing content can be restored using those holdings or the journal’s own content.

3. Institutional Preservation

Archived issues can be consulted through the LOCKSS Publisher Manifest (https://revistas.udec.cl/index.php/). In this way, articles are progressively archived, ensuring that the stored digital information can remain available and usable in the future.

All files of Derecho, Ambiente y Cambio Climático on the Academic Journals Platform are hosted and backed up on servers managed by the University of Concepción’s Information Technology Directorate.
