Keywords:
Sexuality, students nursing, education, nursingAbstract
Objective: This study aimed to know how the construction of sexuality of nursing students takes place and their perceptions on the theme. Method: The method consisted of a descriptive research with qualitative approach. It was developed with 14 students from a Nursing Undergraduate Course in Rio Grande do Sul. Data was collected by using the focus group technique. Thematic analysis was applied for data interpretation. Results: The thematic categories emerged from the discussion of the participants: the sexuality as a cultural construction and the perceptions about sexuality: revealing meanings. The construction of sexuality is related to the context in which the subject was socialized. The thematic started to be discussed in adolescence, with gender distinction in the teaching of such matters and, in smaller proportion, in terms of dialogical relations. Sexuality was understood as a wide concept, associated to genitality and sexual intercourse; to embarrassment and taboo and self-knowledge. Conclusion: It is necessary to create spaces for discussion dealing with sexuality in academic nursing training.
