The press is a means of socialization to guide mental attitudes and promote social awareness. An investigation was proposed to analyze the publications on
Social Work in the Mexican digital press. A mixed descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional study was carried out. From a universe of 14 national newspapers in Mexico, 372 news items were selected and a diachronic hemerographic analysis was undertaken. The results revealed that even though the media have a crucial role in the construction of the social imaginary of Social Work and the socialization of its functions, actions, and programs it develops, the Mexican press barely makes the profession visible and even contributes. to its stereotyping. On the other hand, it is noted that the ideological perspective of the newspapers and the gender of the journalists influence the framing of the news, the visibility, and the type of image that is disseminated about Social Work. We conclude that the representation of Social Work that the Mexican digital press has, assumes multiform, ambivalent, and diffuse images about its identity, functions, actions, as well as, spheres of action.
