Ergonomics, Research and Development is a trimesterly journal, founded in 2019, which publishes original articles about ergonomic research and applications, case studies and bibliographical reviews, focusing on problems arising from ergonomic deficiencies which affect people in various contexts of human activity, particularly at work.
Ergonomics is an emerging and still-young discipline, which is growing progressively in our continent and is increasingly important for making human labors “more humane”. At Universidad de Concepción, we have contributed to the growth of this discipline by training a wide network of professionals across Latin America, who have driven the development of projects and studies in their respective countries.
This journal, whose Editorial Committee includes highly prestigious members of the ergonomics field and which is sponsored by the Biological Sciences Faculty of Universidad de Concepción, was born during a stage where the Ergonomics Department in this university has achieved maturity in research, technology transfer, teaching, and connection with the environment. These aspects help respond to uncertainty among specialists in Latin America about finding a space to publish their findings.
This journal is in service of exchanging knowledge which help enrich the work of new generations of ergonomics specialists, which we hope will lead to improved health, safety, wellbeing, and productivity in the population. It is thus not only aimed at ergonomists, but at all professionals interested in improving quality of life in their work and family environments.
The objectives of the journal Ergonomics, Research and Development are as follows:
–Contribute to spreading research which helps characterize the Latin American population in various parts of their daily tasks.
–Spreading case studies linked with interventions for innovation, which help improve work conditions.
–Favoring the publication of interdisciplinary studies, mainly those encouraging participation by various hierarchies within companies, from workers to management.
–Promoting publications about crucial topics for quality of life improvements in various social sectors, including the elderly and disabled, as well as within schools and homes.
