Mobilization and demobilization trajectories Chilean civil society: 1920-1990
Abstract
Descriptive in nature, in this work we propose what, in our opinion, are the main mobilization and demobilization trajectories of Chilean civil society during the twentieth century. From the historical constellation 1920-1938, through the State of Commitment and the government of the Popular Unity, and the demobilization and mobilization phases displayed during the dictatorial regime of the 1973-1989 period. Based on literature review and secondary data analysis, we conclude that the means of mobility and social demobilization have been influenced by both internal and external factors, proceeding to a separate characterization of these elements. In general, this paper aims to provide a relevant analytical framework for the development of new points of view on a complex relationship between civil, political and state society in Chile.
