Akhenaton according to Naguib Mahfuz
Keywords:
faith, sole god, mission, corruption, frontiersAbstract
After having studied in a very rigorous way the little is known with respect to the life and reign of this controversial Pharaoh, Naguib Mahfuz delivers in this work his interpretation of the events that led to the failure and fall of the government of Akhenatón. Since until today there are different explanations, in his book he utilizes the literary resource of interviewing the characters that held the most important positions and the nearest in kin. Each one, from their scope, contributes with data which coincide with historically well documented facts or which are different and even sometimes contradictory but all significant to shape the version that the author considers most coherent and plausible.
