MEN’S HEALTH CARE FROM THE USER’S PERSPECTIVE

Objective: To identify the activities carried out by primary health care aimed at men's health, from the user's perspective.
Method: Quantitative, exploratory and descriptive research, carried out with 58 men in a municipality in southern Brazil, used non-probabilistic sampling, aged between 20 and 59 years, collection period from December 2019 to March 2020.
Results: Age between 50 and 59 years old was present in 43.1% of those surveyed, Catholic religion 58.62%, incomplete secondary education 36.21%, ethnicity 46.55% white. Of the participants, 37.9% responded that they sought health prevention units, but
were unable to specify what such preventive actions would be; 8.62% inferred performing
routine exams as a prevention method. Regarding the Men's Health Program, the majority, 70.7%, said they had no knowledge. Lack of time (12.06%) was cited as a factor for not taking care of health.
Conclusion: It is concluded that the participants do not know the actions that the units carry out for men's health care. The need for studies that identify the effective actions that
are being carried out in men's health care, so that they can support strategies that encourage professionals and managers to reinforce primary care as an environment for the production of comprehensive care for men's health.
