MASTECTOMY EXPERIENCED BY WOMEN

Abstract

The purpose of the this investigation is to understand the woman with breast cáncer that has been admitted to hospital to undergo mastectomy, focusing this issue under her own perspective, with the aim of discovering, in her own image, what the meaning of "will-be", "being" and " has-already-been-mastectomized" is. In the light of these facts I tryed " to unveil" the phenomenon of mastectomy through a comprehensive analysis of statements regarding her to experience it. The present article only describes the moment when women are admitted to hospital in order to be mastectomised. The development of this study, under a phenomenological framework disclosed peculiarities of those women, that indícate the essence of the phenomenon so as to be considered essential points in the dimensión of caring.
