NURSES’ ATTRIBUTIONS IN AN INSTITUTIONAL SHELTERING SERVICE FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Objective: To know the nurse’s attributions in an institutional sheltering service for children and adolescents from the perspective of educators, professionals from the technical team and professionals from the administrative area. Material and Method: Qualitative, exploratory-descriptive study, conducted between February and April 2018, through a purposive sample totaling 44 participants: 30 educators, 9 professionals from the technical team and five professionals from the administrative area of a sheltering service located in the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Results: After decoding based on content analysis, the data resulted in three thematic axes: Perceiving the integrality of nursing care; Recognizing the connectivity of nurses in the multiprofessional team and Identifying the social role of nurses. Conclusions: Nurses’ attributions
in an institutional sheltering service for children and adolescents are related to comprehensive care in the multiprofessional team, the ability to interact with different social spaces and, above all, the ability to integrate dialogue to nursing care and promote health in its unique and multidimensional dimensions.
