SPIRITUAL CARE FROM WATSON'S CARITAS VERITAS AMONG NURSES IN A DISTRICT HOSPITAL IN PERU

Objective: To analyze the spiritual care of Jean Watson’s Caritas Veritas through the experience and knowledge of nursing professionals working in hospitalization and
emergency areas of a district hospital in the region of La Libertad, Peru. Material and Method: Qualitative and descriptive study, conducted in the year 2022 using semi- structured interviews with 21 nursing graduates. The interviews had an average duration of 30 minutes and ended when saturation was reached. The analysis was conducted in three
phases: data reduction, descriptive analysis and interpretation, which was related to Jean Watson´s Caritas Veritas. For rigor and quality, the criteria of dependence, credibility,
transferability and confidentiality were considered. The study was approved by the Research and Ethics Committee of the Trujillo Health Network. Results: First category:
Basis of Caritas Veritas with two subcategories: Concept of spiritual care and Respect for beliefs and values; Second category: Practices of spiritual care with two subcategories:
Relation of Help-Trust and Practices of Love and Kindness. Conclusions: The findings show that spiritual care is a flexible and personal process, based on the specifics of nursing, caring for the person, the family and the community. Respect for beliefs helps nurses improve interaction with the patient and alleviate their condition. The practices of loving- kindness, compassion and equanimity are linked to Caritas Veritas.
